| UML |
Unified Modelling Language is a combination
of Data, business, object and component modeling. It has become
the standard language for visualizing, specifying, constructing
and documenting a system. It enables the construction of
reusable components and can be used with all processes, throughout
the lifecycle of development. |

| Unix |
Unix is an operating system,
first created in 1969. It was the first operating system written
in the C language. It has evolved as a kind of large freeware
product, and has become the first open or standard operating
system that can be improved or enhanced by anyone. While Windows may
be a much more familiar operating system name, it is Unix (and
it's derivative, Linux) that
is substantially the backbone of the internet.

Use cases |
Technique to capture business processes from
User's perspective - part of UML. Each Use case is a sequence of
related transactions performed by an
Actor interacting with a
System. |
| |
|
| UI |
UI, or User Interface (in some cases referred to
as Graphical User Interface GUI), is what the User sees. After
all the code and magic behind the scenes, all the User actually
interacts with is the UI. |

|
| Vision
and Scope |
Documentation required before starting most
projects. It outlines what is included and just as importantly,
what is not included in the project. |

| VPN |
Virtual Private Network is a way
to use a public telecommunication infrastructure, such as the
Internet, to provide remote users with secure access to their
organization's network. A VPN maintains privacy through security
procedures and tunneling protocols. It encrypts data at the
sending end, sends the data through the "tunnel" that cannot be
"entered" by data that is not properly encrypted, and finally
decrypts it at the receiving end.
