Creating Copy
What is Copy?
This is without fail one of the most underappreciated aspects of creating a successful web site. Creating copy (read "text") for a web site is not the same as
copy for brochures, or other print media. There are a whole set of additional considerations. As well the rules that you applied to your print media are not
necessarily going to work in the web world. For example Reverse Type is not usually a good idea in print advertising, but is perfectly acceptable for many styles of web site.
What "Market Your Web" can do for You
We can help develop your copy in three ways:
- Help get you started, so that you can create your own text; be able to develop the correct structure and have the proper focus for your type of content.
- Serve as an Editor for text that you've created; check the tone fits with your brand, the copy is search engine friendly and that it has a professional presentation.
- One stop shopping: We'll do all the copy for you. Just as you have, we will need to develop an understanding of your product, company, target markets, brand etc
Summary
Let's face it, most anyone can put together a site, but it's the content that brings it alive. Unfortunately, Copy is rarely given the importance it requires.
This results in a) delays in getting the web site ready, and b) the final image and consequently, the effectiveness of your site. We want to make sure this doesn't happen to you!
Some Considerations
- Does the copy fit the format?
- Is the tone of the copy appropriate for your target market?
- Are the Search Engines attracted to your copy?
- Does your text have a professional presentation?
- Is there really enough copy? On the Web, Content is King.
